Effect of molybdenum and copper on key enzymes of rat kidney with special reference to physiological antagonism

Enzymological data on alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase, glucose-6-phosphatase, cholinesterase and lipase in the kidney of rats fed Mo and Cu were reported. Antagonistic or synergistic behavior was determined by feeding the rats simultaneously on these 2 metals. Mo inhibited all enzymes except acid phosphatase and lipase. Complete inhibition of alkaline phosphatase was recorded after Cu treatment. Combined treatment with Mo and Cu exhibited reversible enzyme changes, but cholinesterase activity remained inhibited.
