Foliar application of 50 and 100 ppm of NAA [naphthalene acetic acid] on 'Detroit Red' sugarbeet (B. vulgaris Linn. var. rapa Dum.) plants significantly increased the sugar content of the roots. Though the fresh weight of roots was decreased (by 4.3-5.7%), the gross sugar production was significantly increased following both the treatments.
