Effect of plant density nitrogen fertilization and growth regulators on cottonseed gossypium barbadense cultivar giza 75 yield and seedling vigor

Two experiments were carried out at Bahtim Agricultural Research Station, Egypt, on cotton 'Giza 75' to investigate the effect of N fertilization rates (72, 108 and 144 kg N/ha), different methods of application (3 methods) and IBA concentrations (0, 5 and 10 ppm), in the 1st experiment, also, different plant densities (166, 666, 222, 221 and 333, 333 plants/ha), cycocel concentrations (0, 100 and 200 ppm) and N rates (108 and 144 kg N/ha), in the 2nd experiment, on cottonseed yield, seed index and seedling vigor. These factors were studied in randomized complete blocks design experiments with 4 replications. Cottonseed yield, seed index, germination percentage, seedling length, fresh and dry weight increased by increasing N and under the application of IBA. Significant effect as due to N application methods was also observed on germination percentage, seedling length and fresh weight. Under low population density, better germination, seedling length and fresh weight was achieved. Cycocel application increased seedling vigor only. Plant densities as well as cycocel application showed slight differences in cottonseed yield and seed index, which did not reach the significance level.
