International Journal for Vitamin and Nutrition Research 53(3): 345-348



Wistar rats (12) received a well-balanced diet with 40% sucrose (control), or 40% lactose or hydrolyzed lactose in the form of whey or ultrafiltration permeate. After 270 days, the liver of experimental lots contains more thiamine (.apprx. 130%) and less total cholesterol (.apprx. 18%). The lactose feeding increases the liver riboflavin, more than the hydrolyzed lactose.
