Effect of prolonged in vivo electrical stimulations on the glycolytic potential of the gastrocnemius muscle of frog rana hexadactyla during exercise

The effect of prolonged electrical stimulation on the glycolytic potential of the gastrocnemius muscle of R. hexadactyla (Lesson) during work performance was studied. The prolonged stimulated muscle (PSM) used only half the glycogen content as compared to that of the unstimulated muscle (USM) for the same work performance. PSM exhibited higher glycolytic potential with activated gluconeogenesis, indicating improved contractile potential and efficiency in work performance.
