Effect of pyrethrum on the neurosecretory system of adult female schizodactylus monstrosus orthoptera schizodactylidae

The effect of pyrethrum poisoning in S. monstrosus caused increased activities of neurosecretory system (NSS). The rate of transport and release of neurosecretion from the NSS were greater than the rate of its synthesis in the perikarya of the median neurosecretory cells, thus there occurred a great depletion of neurosecretion in the entire NSS of S. monstrosus. Such an unbalanced release of neurosecretory material might have produced very damaging effects in the life-process of insect.
