Effect of saline waters on some varieties of guar cyamopsis psoralioides

Ten varieties of guar were screened for their tolerance to saline water at germination stage with five EC levels (4, 8, 12, 16, 20 mmhos/cm) and three SAR levels (10, 20, 20). Germination count were made up to 8 days. The germination percentage decreases with increase in salinity. The embryo length was in general reduced drastically after 8 mmhos EC/cm and SAR 30. At EC 12 mmhos/cm there was no development of the embryo in most of the guar varieties.
