Effect of seeding date on yield and other agronomic traits of some wheat triticum aestivum grown on irrigated lands in bangladesh

In a 2 yr study with 6 high-yielding varieties of wheat (T. aestivum Linn. emend. Thell.), late seeding resulted in a large yield reduction because of a decrease in filling period, tillers/plant, kernels/ear, 1000-kernel weight and yield/plant. Early seeding was required for optimum development of ancillary characters for yield. Disease severity increased with late seeding. Early-flowering 'Sonora 64' and 'Sonalika' did well in early and in late seeding, whereas the late-flowering 'Mexipak 65' did well only in early seeding. Climate was important for wheat cultivation.
