Effect of temperature on embryonic development and reproduction of the fresh water snail lymnaea luteola gastropoda a vector of schistosomiasis

Effect of temperature on embryonic development and reproduction of the fresh water snail lymnaea luteola gastropoda a vector of schistosomiasis

Hydrobiologia 102(1): 45-50

The effect of temperature on embryonic development and reproduction of L. luteola [vector of human schistosomiasis] was studied. This snail did not develop completely and failed to reproduce at 15.degree. and 40.degree. C. The temperature range of 25.degree.-35.degree. C was optimum for development and reproduction. The value of this study in predicting seasonal fluctuations of snail population in nature is discussed.
