Effect of the supplementation of methionine or cystine to raw soybean heated soybean or soy protein isolate diet on hepatic polysome profiles and body weight in rats

Effect of the supplementation of methionine or cystine to raw soybean heated soybean or soy protein isolate diet on hepatic polysome profiles and body weight in rats

Nutrition Reports International 34(3): 331-336

The supplementation of methionine to raw soybean, heated soybean or soy protein isolate diet improved the growth of body weight. Cystine supplementation to raw soybean diet improved the body weight gains, but not to heated soybean or soy protein isolate diet. Pancreas weights of rats fed raw soybean diet were about twofold heavier than those of rats fed heated soybean or soy protein isolate diet. The supplementation of methionine or cystine to these soy protein diets decreased the values of monomer-dimers per total ribosomes, but the degrees of these declines were different in each case. The differences of these supplemental effects of methionine or cystine to raw soybean, heated soybean or soy protein isolate diet were discussed.
