Effect of toxins of the causal agent of septoria ribis leaf spot on differently resistant currant cultivars

Effect of toxins of the causal agent of septoria ribis leaf spot on differently resistant currant cultivars

Mikologiya i Fitopatologiya 12(1): 23-26

Soviet currant cultivars and the species Ribes americanum were infested (shoots) with toxins from S. ribis after 2 wk and 1 mo. cultivation of the causal agent in a Chapek medium. The effective action time of the toxins was calculated from the moment of loss of turgor by the leaves. A close connection could be determined between genetic determination of indices of resistance to Septoria leaf spot and the effect of toxins on the shoots of adult plants and on seedlings. The interrelationship may help in the diagnosis of current resistance and the isolation of cultivars and species with oligogenic resistance.
