Effectiveness of paecilomyces lilacinus in the control of the root knot nematode meloidogyne javanica
The efficiency of the fungus Paecilomyces lilacinus Thom. Samson, as a biological control agent of the root know nematode Meloidogyne javanica was evaluated under laboratory conditions. Eggs of Melodogyne spp. were collected from tomato crops in the field, and inoculated in potted plants to increase nematode population. The variety used as host was Rutgers which is very susceptible to this parasitic nematode. Through differential hosts, tests, and morphometric studies (perineal pattern) the nematode was identified as Meloidogyne javanica.
