Effects of 2 curing methods on residues on monocrotophos acephate methomyl and mh 1 2 di hydro 3 6 pyridazinedione on flue cured tobacco

Effects of 2 curing methods on residues on monocrotophos acephate methomyl and mh 1 2 di hydro 3 6 pyridazinedione on flue cured tobacco

Tobacco Science 24: 57-61

Both conventional and bulk curing reduced residues of monocrotophos, acephate and methomyl on flue-cured tobacco. Residues of monocrotophos averaged 0.32 ppm after conventional curing and 0.28 ppm after bulk curing. Based on monocrotophos residues on green tobacco, both methods of curing reduced residues 99.8%. Total acephate (acephate + methamidophos) residues on conventionally cured tobacco averaged 0.53 ppm (99.6% loss during curing) and 0.46 ppm on bulk cured tobacco (99.8% loss). Methomyl-treated tobacco had an average residue of 4.00 ppm after conventional curing and 3.19 ppm after bulk curing, for losses of 94.0 and 95.2% during curing, respectively. Losses due to curing were not determined on tobacco treated with MH, MH [herbicide] residues of 77 ppm were found on both conventionally and builk cured tobacco.
