Effects of the n mosaic resistance factor on agronomic and chemical traits in burley tobacco nicotiana tabacum

Isogenic or near-isogenic lines in 8 cultivar backgrounds of burley tobacco (N. tabacum L.) were developed with the N. glutinosa L. factor for mosaic resistance. For each cultivar background, a resistant and a susceptible selection from the 7th backcross generation plus the recurrent parental cultivar were evaluated for several agronomic and chemical traits. Effects of the resistance factor or associated genetic material on characteristics other than response to the mosaic virus were not consistent over genotypes. The genetic constitution of a recipient line influences the effects of the resistance factor.
