Electrophoretic study of the hepatic esterases of pseudemys decussata reptilia chelonia from cienaga de zapata cuba

, : Electrophoretic study of the hepatic esterases of pseudemys decussata reptilia chelonia from cienaga de zapata cuba. Ciencias Biologicas Academia de Ciencias de Cuba 13(1): 11-18

Hepatic esterases in liver extracts of 64 individuals of Pseudemys decussata were examined by starch gel electrophoresis. Biochemical polymorphism in this tissue was detected through the analysis of 3, 4, 5, and 6 band patterns of esterasic activity found in the extracts. A relation between both sex and age and band patterns was also found. This fact is explained through physiological and ecological considerations of the species.
