Electrophoretic variation and sex linkage in spruce budworm

, : Electrophoretic variation and sex linkage in spruce budworm. Journal of Heredity 68(6): 355-359

Electrophoretic variation at 10 loci in the spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana, are described. No significant population differentiation occurred among 7 sites in northern Maine [USA]. An average heterozygosity for C. fumiferana of 0.168 were calculated based on these 10 loci and found comparable to that for other insects. The locus coding for aspartate aminotransferase was sex linked, hemizygotic in females. Dipteran parasites were detected electrophoretically.
