Electrophoretic variation of aconitase ec 4.2.1.3 and phospho gluco mutase ec 2.7.5.1 detected in microtus californicus

, : Electrophoretic variation of aconitase ec 4.2.1.3 and phospho gluco mutase ec 2.7.5.1 detected in microtus californicus. Biochimica et Biophysica Acta 580(2): 298-301

Four electrophoretic variants of cytoplasmic aconitase were detected in a population of M. californicus when samples were screened by starch gel electrophoresis using Tris/citrate buffers at pH 7.0 and pH 8.7. Variation at what is presumed to be the phosphoglucomutase-3 locus was also detected with liver samples but was not detected in kidney samples or red blood cell lysates. This nongenetic variation is due to oxidation of free sulfhydryl groups.
