Electrophysiological study on hypertrophied and ischemic myocardium of rats
Action potentials were recorded by the microelectrode from the isolated ventricular myocardium of the renal hypertensive rats and from the ischemic myocardium after coronary ligation. An afterpotential was produced by high rate stimulation of the hypertrophied and ischemic myocardia in a high Ca2+ medium or lanatoside C 1-2 .mu.g/ml medium. Verapamil abolished the afterpotential, indicating that the latter is dependent on calcium current.
