Endocrine aspects of restoration of reproductive function in post partum cows during dosed housing together with sires and under gonadotropin effect

Endocrine aspects of restoration of reproductive function in post partum cows during dosed housing together with sires and under gonadotropin effect

Sel'skokhozyaistvennaya Biologiya 17(1): 108-112

The influence of housing sires and cows together during several aftercalving periods was studied and compared with the treatment of the cows with FAA [possibly pregnant mare serum gonadotropin] on the 4th and 26th day after the calving. The positive influence of sire on the time of the first estrus manifestation after the calving was stated. The effect was evident only if the cows were kept with the sire from 2 days after calving up to the closing of the uteral cervix or up to 31 days after calving. Injection of FAA on the 4th and 26th day after the calving promotes the shortening of the periods from the calving to the 1st estrus and to the beginning of the pregnancy.
