Fortnightly spray treatments of caffeic acid and protocatechuic acids, starting from the 2-leaf stage, increased the endogenous IAA level at the time of initiation of flowering. IAA-oxidase activity was inhibited. Similar treatments of m-coumaric acid showed a marked decrease in endogenous IAA level and enhanced IAA-oxidase activity.
