Endopulmonary deposition of dry powdered substances a low cost technique for use on medium sized mammals

This technique is perfected using the cat as a receiver for the deposition of a dry and powdered product into the airways. Depending on the size of the particles, deposition may also occur in the alveoli (chemical, mineral or organic substances). Due to limited financial resources this technique does not require the use of a large and expensive aerosol or dust producing apparatus. It's advantages and disadvantages have been analysed and discussed here in general terms. With adaptations this technique could be used on other mammals (of a similar size to the cat) and in such a way that different products could be deposited in the airways (eg chemicals, medicaments, allergen or powder). Certain specific problems may arise concerning for example the size, density or electrostatic properties of the product; except for the radioactivity, there is no danger for those running the experiment since the dispersal of the product is realized after the intubation of the animal (endocorporeal administration).
