Endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of cardiospasm

Endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of cardiospasm

Klinicheskaia Meditsina 66(4): 53-56

On the basis of treating 35 patients with III and IV degrees cardiospasm it has been concluded that esophagogastroduodenoscopy is an effective diagnostic method and various techniques of endoscopic treatment can be successfully used in this category of patients. The esophagus was dilated by means of pneumointubation for which purpose a probe was assembled on the distal part of the endoscope. The results were good in 22 patients who were followed up for periods from 6 months to 4 years. Complications (reflex cardiac arrest and pharyngitis) which developed in 2 patients were relieved by conservative treatment.
