Endoscopic diagnosis of esophageal tumors

Endoscopic diagnosis of esophageal tumors

Voprosy Onkologii (Stsburg). 1977; 23(7): 11-14

Fibroesophagoscopy, a valuable adjunct in diagnosis of esophageal cancer, may be used both under stationary and outpatient conditions. The latter is of special importance for prophylactic examinations of high-risk group individuals. The possibility of establishing histological and cytologic diagnosis by this method is essential for tactical aspects of the treatment in such patients. The use of roentgenological and endoscopic methods allows a more precise judgement of the character of esophageal involvement.
