Endoscopic findings in malignant lymphoma of the stomach and duodenum

Endoscopic findings in malignant lymphoma of the stomach and duodenum

Tidsskrift for den Norske Laegeforening 106(15): 1309-1310, 1334

In the period 1974-84 we performed upper gastrointestinal endoscopy on 30 patients later diagnosed as having a malignant gastric or duodenal lymphoma. The median age was 70.5 years (30-84). Approximately half of the patients had signs of gastrointestinal bleeding. In 24 cases correct diagnosis was made after one or more endoscopies with biopsy. In five of these, large particle biopsy using a polypectomy snare was diagnostic. When the endoscopic changes are widespread with multiple ulcers, malignant lymphoma must be considered.
