Endoscopic fistulotomy for diseases of the common bile duct

Endoscopic fistulotomy for diseases of the common bile duct

Schweizerische Rundschau fuer Medizin Praxis 77(1-2): 12-14

Endoscopic fistulotomy is a therapeutic procedure developed for those patients with common blile duct diseases, in whom the classical sphincterotomy of the Vaterian papilla fails because of the papillary anatomy. Success-rate and frequency of complications are similar for both techniques. Thus endoscopic fistulotomy may be recommended as alternative endoscopic therapy in selected cases.
