Endoscopic polypectomy in the large intestine

Endoscopic polypectomy in the large intestine

Ceskoslovenska Gastroenterologie A Vyziva 35(8): 382-386

Total bioptic removal of polyps localized anywhere in the human large intestine may be performed by means of high frequency currents. The removal of adenomatous polyps of the large intestine presently still represents the only known method of prevention of colorectal cancer. This form of treatment also proves valuable in the therapy of symptomatic polyps. When compared to surgical approaches this method is followed by a significantly lower level of morbidity and mortality. The initial experiences with this new promising method of operative endoscopy are presented.
