Endoscopic sphincterotomy review of our experience

Endoscopic sphincterotomy review of our experience

Revista Espanola de las Enfermedades del Aparato Digestivo 71(3): 229-233

We review our experience with endoscopic sphincterotomy in 130 patients. The principal indication was choledocholithiasis (93 cases), either residual or with intact gallbladder. In 20 cases of papillary stenosis-dysfunction, results were good in 65% of patients. Used as a support therapy in paitents with neoplasias of the papilla or prepapillary common bile duct, good results were obtained in 80% of cases. In 2 biliary fistulas, resolution was obtained in a few days. The technique produced few complications and no deaths.
