A 43-year-old male was admitted to our hospital for endoscopical removal of esophageal submucosal tumor. Barium meal and fiberscopic study revealed a sessile tumor of the upper thoracic esophagus. For 3 years and 9 months, the tumor had enlarged 2.5 times as large as before on UGI series. After local injection of hypertonic saline epinephrine solution, endoscopic removal of the tumor was done safely. The size was 2.1 .times. 1.2 .times. 1.2 cm. Histological diagnosis was esophageal lipoma. This is the second report of endoscopical removal of esophageal lipoma in Japan.
