Epidemiological characteristics of visceral leishmaniasis in the northern part of the kzyl orda oblast of the kazakh ssr

, : Epidemiological characteristics of visceral leishmaniasis in the northern part of the kzyl orda oblast of the kazakh ssr. Meditsinskaya Parazitologiya i Parazitarnye Bolezni 47(3): 15-21

In 1966-1976, 385 patients with visceral leishmaniasis were detected in Kzyl-Orda Oblast of the Kazakh SSR, USSR, among whom predominated children from rural areas. The patients were found in 122 villages. The foci differed by the nature of settlements, time of existence and the extent of activity. Most prevalent were foci with sporadic diseases and microfoci located in remote areas or at the edges and in the vicinities of the settlements. The dynamics of the incidence is of a pulsating nature and is determined by changes in the status of natural foci of visceral leishmaniasis.
