Epidemiological studies on clonorchiasis in okayama prefecture japan 3. a survey on metacercariae infection in the fresh water fishes carassius auratus and cyprinus carpio in lake kojima and its western area
A survey on the incidence of Clonorchis sinensis metacercaria in the fresh water fishes, C. auratus and C. carpio captured in the Lake Kojima and its western area, Okayama Prefecture, was carried out during June 1980-Dec. 1982. C. auratus and C. carpio infected with the metacercariae of C. sinensis were found in 4 of 6 and 1 out of 5 stations, respectively. The incidence of metacercariae infection was 1.6% (6 of 387 examined) in C. auratus, and 11.1% (1 of 9 examined) in C. carpio. The number of metacercariae per infected fish varied from 1 to 15 with an average of 3.3 in C. auratus, only 1 was found in C. carpio. Metacercariae in 7 infected fishes were found in the muscles of the head, trunk and tail; none were found in the scales.
