Surveys of crabs, Geothelphusa dehaani, for the infection with Paragonimus miyazakii metacercariae have been conducted from 1976 to 1984 at Dojima, Kawane-cho, Shizuoka Pref. Of total 1844 crabs collected, 1476 individuals with carapace width of 18 mm or more were examined in detail. The prevalance was rather stable, showing around 50% during these 9 years. Although the mean density of metacercariae per crab appeared to have declined, the statistical analysis showed little significant change. The frequency distribution of metacercariae per crab was found to fit to the negative binomial distribution. Levels of aggregation of each sample came to decline through the years. Analysis using values of mean crowding suggested a fitness to the negative binomial for male, but to the other complex distributions for female. The necessary minimum sample sizes were calculated using Io index. Only a few samples were below the minimum requirement at a level of 30% in relative error, whereas the most samples were over the optimum size.
