Epidemiological study among companies of the armed forces of southeastern madagascar malagasy republic part 1 the blood parasites

, : Epidemiological study among companies of the armed forces of southeastern madagascar malagasy republic part 1 the blood parasites. Archives de l'Institut Pasteur de Madagascar 44(1): 107-114

Among 258 investigated individuals, 1 was a carrier of Plasmodium falciparum. This person was studied the 1st day of his enrollment. While in the Army the recruits systematically take chloroquine; this prophylaxis seems efficacious. The frequency of filariasis is 13.17% and the microfilarian medium density is 16 microfilariae/20 mm3 of peripheral blood. Prophylactic measures must be continued.
