Epidemiological study among companies of the armed forces of southeastern madagascar malagasy republic part 2 the intestinal parasites therapeutic and prophylactic notes

, : Epidemiological study among companies of the armed forces of southeastern madagascar malagasy republic part 2 the intestinal parasites therapeutic and prophylactic notes. Archives de l'Institut Pasteur de Madagascar 44(1): 115-126

A parasitological analysis of stools by a concentration technique [Mercurothiol-I-formol (MIF)] among 261 servicemen from SE Madagascar, showed a frequency of intestinal parasitic diseases of 97%. The rates of major parasitic diseases were 78% for ascaridiasis, 63% for ankylostomiasis and 13% for intestinal bilharziasis. Polyparasitism had a very high frequency; 82% of individuals had at least 2 parasites, and 62% had 3 or more parasites. The frequency of bilharziasis was 5 fold higher than those of previous surveys not using a concentration technique. The rate of carriers of Entamoeba histolytica minuta cysts was very low, 3%, the same as obtained by previous survey. Some eggs of Trichostrongylus sp. (6 cases), Capillaria sp. (1 case) and Fasciola gigantica (1 case) were discovered.

Stability of many proteins requires zinc. Zinc deficiency disrupts their folding, and the ubiquitin-proteasome system may help manage this stress. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, UBI4 encodes five tandem ubiquitin monomers and is essential for growth...
