Epidemiological study of hydatid disease in zaragoza spain in the years 1982 1983

Revista de Sanidad e Higiene Publica 40(3-4): 335-350

This research consisted of a study of the prevalence of disease caused by Echinococcus granulosus in Zaragoza city and province over the two-year period 1982-1983. The morbidity level in humans was found to be seven times higher than the national level (calculated from data compiled from the Compulsary Declaration of Disease) for the two year period: it was found to be three times higher than the officially declared level in Zaragoza in 1982, with very similar findings for the year 1983. The research was centered on a study of the relation between human morbidity and the rate of ovine infestation and canine parasitization: a dependent relation was detected between the level of canine parasitization and the level of human morbidity in certain countries within the province.
