Epidemiology and genetics a tentative approach

, : Epidemiology and genetics a tentative approach. Ciencia e Cultura (Sao Paulo) 34(11): 1454-1457

The epidemiological aspects of congenital birth defects were examined on the basis of an exploratory epidemiology survey in 2549 preschoolers of the Sao Paulo [Brazil] City School system, in which a total of 5457 malformations were found, averaging 2.14 defects/child. This surprising data led to a review on the more recent information about epidemiology and genetics, following the classic descriptive model (factors linked to time, space and people).
