The lead peroxide method was employed during the winter of 1977 to monitor SO2 levels in Durban, South Africa, using a network of 100 sampling stations. The spatial pattern of pollution highlights the Berea Ridge as a belt of relatively low SO2 concentrations and the entrances of the harbor and river mouths to the sea as the areas of highest values.
