Evaluation of a novel fluorometric assay for the determination of ca 50 antigen

, : Evaluation of a novel fluorometric assay for the determination of ca 50 antigen. Journal of Tumor Marker Oncology 3(2): 197-200

A new fluorometric immunoassay for the determination of CA 50 antigen has recently been developed (LKB, Sweden), using an europium labeled antibody. A group of sera from normal blood donors (n = 100), sera of patients with benign diseases (n = 100) and 100 sera of patients with gastro-intestinal cancers were tested with the conventional IRMA (Behringwerke, FRG) and with the fluorescence assay. The fluorescence assay (DELFIA) reaches the sensitivity of the IRMA. Handling, specificity and intra- as well as inter-assay variance were compared with the conventional IRMA an proved to be as good as the standard.
