Evaluation of some pesticides for control of stored product mites

Evaluation of some pesticides for control of stored product mites
The effectiveness of some pesticides was tested against 1 of the most frequent species of stored product mites in Yugoslavia, Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Schrank) and its residues in treated wheat grain. The results showed a very residual effect of trans methacrifos which was not dependent on formulation or application, and also had high efficacy on the tested mite species. The best initial efficiency was achieved by dichlorvos and slightly less with SO formulation of trans methacrifos, regardless of the applied dosages. Both dosages had the same efficiency of all formulation of trans methacrifos against T. putrescentiae. In practice lower dosages (5 ppm) are sufficient. EC [emulsifiable concentrate] formulation of trans methacrifos initial effect was better at higher concentrations.
