Evaluation of some systemic and non systemic fungicides against pathogens of bast fiber crops

Toxicity of three systemic fungicides, viz., Bavistin, Calixin and Kitazin and three non-systemics, Biltox, Foltaf and Hexaferb, were tested in vitro against nine fungi namely Rhizoctonia bataticola Macrophomina phaseolina, Diplodia corchori, Colletotrichum glocosporioides, Phytophthora parasitica, Phoma sabdariffae, Myrothecium roridum, Fusarium udum and Alternaria lini, pathogenic to bast fibre crops. In general, systemic fungicides were more effective than the conventional fungicides. Calixin was found to be a most potent and broad-spectrum fungicide, next in order to Bavistin. Among the three conventional fungicides Hexaferb was the most effective chemical, followed by Foltaf.
