Evidence of capsidiol and resistance induction in capsicum annuum by cell fractions of phytophthora capsici mycelium
Leaves or cotyledons of C. annuum in cellular fractions of P. capsici mycelium are tested. Sedimentable fractions induce phytoalexin (capsidiol) biosynthesis and confer host resistance. An intracellular origin of the elicitor, its transit through the cell wall and then its excretion in the extracellular medium were suggested.
