Evidence of methionine biosynthesis in allomyces macrogynus

, : Evidence of methionine biosynthesis in allomyces macrogynus. Transactions of the British Mycological Society 86(4): 653-655

Allomyces macrogynus can synthesize methionine using sulphide, cysteine, cystathionine, homocysteine or thioacetamide as sulphur sources. With thioacetamide, methionine sulphone accumulated if cultures were highly aerated. The specific requirement for branching was methionine itself.
