Evidence suggesting identity of colony forming unit spleen and cells producing colonies in a specially designed tissue culture system

, : Evidence suggesting identity of colony forming unit spleen and cells producing colonies in a specially designed tissue culture system. Experimental Hematology (Charlottesville) 1(2): 98-104

Mouse, human and monkey hemopoietic stem cell have been studied in colony formation with the thin layer agar system. It remains to be elucidated whether every single colony was derived from a hemopoietic stem cell or if the myeloid progenitor cells also took part in colony formation. The differences in results previously reported may be explained by different culture systems.
