Experience from fifteen years of following internal contamination with plutonium in employees of the research nuclear center in rez czechoslovakia

Internal contamination with plutonium in persons employed in the Research Nuclear Centre in Rez was followed by means of determining its elimination in urine and feces. This kind of method was used for the estimation of the degree of internal contamination either in normal operational conditions or in cases of emergency. In the given sensitivity of used radiochemical methods, plutonium in urine was determiend only in one examined worker. The estimation of intake of 239Pu was based on these data. In other workers plutonium was not found in the excretes. The paper also describes a modified radiocheimcal method for the determination of plutonium in the stools.
