Experience from palliative chemo therapy for advanced ovarian carcinoma progress report of hospital with an out patient department at district level

Zentralblatt fuer Gynaekologie 104(3): 160-167

Progress obtained from palliative treatment of patients with advanced ovarian carcinoma in an area under the control of a district hospital, between 1957-1978, is reported. Particular reference is made to the favorable effects of combination chemotherapy on survival rates and general condition. This therapeutic approach should not be restricted to a few highly specialized centers. Good therapeutic results depend on good continuity and persistent monitoring of the patients.
