Experience in improving air quality in kazan
Air pollution, which affects human health in Kazan, one of the major industrial cities of the Volga region [Russian SFSR, USSR], is caused by 3 major types of sources: the wastes of chemical and petrochemical plants, products of the incomplete combustion of liquid and solid fuel in commercial and communal boilers and motor vehicle exhausts and dust. Efforts made in recent years to study and control this problem are described. Measures to improve air quality were successful, but further efforts and technical developments are necessary.
