Experience in recording cases of purulent septic diseases in new borns

The purulent and septic diseases during 1974-1978 in Moscow, USSR, were recorded and analyzed. The time course and morbidity pattern of the disease, its seasonal fluctuations and the time of onset are presented. A tendency towards a decrease in morbidity was noted. The causes of the diseases of the skin and the s.c. fat were established. The morbidity reports were mainly during the 1st 2 wk of the infants' life and the morbidity rate varied in different maternity hospitals. The recording enabled one to obtain current data on morbidity; thus, forecasting and prevention of the disease were possible.
