Extensibility characteristics of the human cheek a pilot study

, : Extensibility characteristics of the human cheek a pilot study. Journal of Dental Research 62(3): 344-348

Force displacement curves of the cheek in an edentulous area in the maxillary bicuspid-molar region on 10 adults evidenced 3 segments: a power function, a plateau and an exponential function. The plateau suggested an area in which the cheek could be displaced with no increase in force. The resting force was 1.54 g to 4.61 g. The cheek can be modeled by a fluid-filled double elastic membrane system.
