Extension factors for predicting 305 day protein yield in dairy cows
A total of 53,590 complete lactation records of four breeds (Ayrshire, Guernsey, Holstein, Jersey) were grouped into two ages at freshening (less than 36 mo and greater than or equal to 36 mo) and four seasons of calving (March to May, June to August, September to November, and December to February). Separate sets of extension factors were estimated for each breed, age group and season of calving using nonlinear model method. A new set of data was used to test these factors.
