Food of metamorphosing siberian angle tooth hynobius keyserlingii larvae

Food of metamorphosing siberian angle tooth hynobius keyserlingii larvae

Ekologiya (Moscow) (3): 61-65

Changes in the food of metamorphosing H. keyserlingii larvae were studied in 1981. The food spectrum included over 50 invertebrate families. Bottom, benthopelagic and phytophilous faunas predominated in the food of larvae of all stages. During metamorphosis a succession of various ecological groups of prey was observed. Feeding intensity decreased along with a reduction in larval organs, then it increased in a metamorphosing above-ground form.
