Mixed samples of 1-3 yr of needles of 2 clones of P. abies Karst were taken monthly in 1981 under highly standardized conditions (same stand, same exposition, same hierarchic position of the investigated branch) and were immediately freeze-dried. The course of concentration of soluble carbohydrates, polyphenols, procyanidins and protein amino acids was quantitatively determined. The data are discussed in respect to their physiological valence within the systemic bond between spruce and the sawfly G. bercyniae.
